Thanks everyone for your thoughtful and helpful comments on the last post. I suggest that everyone reads the comments on the last post if you haven't yet.
I enjoy hearing from all of you! I found some great resources and new to me websites.
The Things We Do has a GREAT new blog called Hope Chest of Wisdom (a sweet blog intended for her daughter) and she has a great list of modest clothing links in the sidebar...go check it out!
Sheri introduced me to two new places to find skirts... Below the Knee and Be Precious. I love finding new resources!
And, if you like to sew, The Handmade Dress has some really beautiful dress patterns for girls.
On another note, here are a few pictures of our day before I went to the Above Rubies retreat on Friday. Some gracious people invited us to their property to make apple cider and feed their fish. It was SO fun!!

I had the most amazing time at the retreat!! I am so energized and refreshed, and I also met several of my blog readers...how fun! Stay tuned for a full post about the wonderful retreat.

Cute Cute Family!
So glad you're enjoying furlough!
The kids look like they enjoyed their paddle boat ride! Those are fun.
I wear pants sometimes, butI like skirts because my weight fluctuates and they are more forgiving, and they are feminine. But I know they can be cold sometimes in chilly weather. I will check out those silky long undies that you mentioned.
Glad you had fun on your retreat. Have a great day.

Can't wait to read about the retreat! I need one!
Joy,
Thank you for such a great wealth of information! I do have a question. My girls LOVE to wear skirts and dresses, which I wholly embrace. However, they are still KIDS... and skirts often end up twisted around one's waist if one happens to be 3 and rolling around in the grass on wresting on the floor with Daddy. :-) We practice being "ladies" and staying oh-so-modest when we can, but how do you protect their modesty while still allowing them to be free to play??
Becky---two words---biker shorts. And then in winter, thick tights or stretch pants work. As a Mom of lots of girls, I have used these tricks with great success.
Hope that helps.
Thanks Carrie! As we're moving to the Southern Hemisphere soon, we'll have to stick with shorts. I'll be on the lookout... though they are difficult to find in the fall season! :-)
Hi (just wandered into your blog!!) - I have started to wear skirts all the time and feel so "girly" and feminine - it is wonderful. I buy most of my skirts from ebay - cheap but often brand new.
Winter is where I run into trouble - how to keep warm in skirts.

Hey Joy,
I was wondering if you have come across any Bible study materials on modesty that are geared towards pre-teens/teens? Or if you have any idea where I could start looking for some?
Blessings, my friend!
