In our neck of the woods summer is starting in a rush. And whenever a new season begins, I find myself making lists. Sometimes the lists are only mental, sometimes they are a more official back of a used envelope list. But at any rate, seasonal plans are made and hopes are set.
This summer is no different. I have very big plans. Plans like Paint the Front Door. and Go Berry-picking.
Inevitably following my plans are my expectations. And from seasons and plans past, I know that come September I can find myself disappointed, frustrated, humiliated and exhausted. Or I can feel renewed, engergized, satisfied and at rest.
What determines my disposition is to what I've committed my plans. Or rather to whom. If my plans are for me and my vision of what a good life is, I am setting myself up for major disappointment and frustration. If I first commit my plans to the Lord, and trust Him with them, my plans may change, but my expectations for peace are never let down.
Psalm 37:5: “Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you.”So, this summer, I have a new task on my list. Above painting or berry-picking or reading or any other goal, is this: Commit each day's plans to the Lord.
I love the certainty of that verse. Committing our plans is a command, not a suggested, "If you commit everything you do..." If I need His help (you know how I do!) and commit everything on my list and in my life to Him, His promise says in return He will help me and give me success!
What are your summer plans? How do you know when you've committed them to the Lord?
Summer Blessings,

Beautiful post, Kristen! What a wonderful encouragement ... one I needed to hear. Sometimes I get so busy checking things off my list that I fail to consider if my list matches God's list. Your words are a timely reminder for me.
This was a great encouragement to me Kristen! Thank you so much for the reminder for our focas and goals to be in Christ Jesus:)
Blessings,

Ohhh, that is my desire too!
The Lord is calling us and wooing us to come away with Him.
There is something so freeing when we commit our lives to Him. He is in control,...and the sooner we realise this, the happier we will be.
Thanks for this inspiring pist!

This is truly a wonderful post with a wonderful message. Thank you so much for sharing!
You are such an inspiration!! Thanks for posting....
It is winter here but these words of wisdom apply for every season and every season of life! I love the translation that says 'We can make our plans but God determines the outcome" and I have discovered this to be so true... sometimes God has a different idea or direction to take me in but His ways are always perfect!
Definitely something I needed to hear today!!! Thanks!
We are reminded of that so often...we make our plans but the Lord directs our steps!!!
Joy,
Thanks so much for the opportunity to guest for you while you're traveling! Perhaps I needed this message more than any of your readers but it was still a blessing to share.
Praying for your journey!

I so needed to be reminded of this as I have been feeling so discouraged as I "just can't get anything done", but there is such a peace when I do my best and leave the rest to the Lord. Thanks for the encouragement!
Hi Joy
I found your blog when I was doing a google search about wearing dresses in winter. I have no idea what makes google think someone living in Indonesia would have to do with that, but that's how I found your blog! I loved your pictorial diary of a week in skirts.
As I took a bit of a look around I became very excited when I discovered you are with MAF. I grew up on the other side of the border in PNG and my Dad was/sometime still is an aircraft engineer with MAF.
