What To Do About Hair?

Several of you have mentioned that the thought of 7 days of different hair confounds you. Yes, I agree, it can be difficult to come up with different hairstyles, but I think it can be fun too!
Here are some great links to help you!!

Abigail of Authentic Beauty, has this post with links to no less than 36 easy hairstyles. Go check it out!

Michelle, of Bellissima Modesty Boutique, has a great post about how to style long hair here.

And Christa Taylor has four great hairstyle ideas for summer. You can find them on her blog here.

That should get you started!!

Hannah and I will be back later to share our outfits for the day. I'll admit, it's not as much fun to look pretty when there's no hubby coming home at the end of the day.

Blessings,

Hi Joy:

I'm so glad to be finally getting around to sending you a comment (I've been a "lurker" for almost a year now while I've enjoyed getting to know your family--maybe I'll get around to sharing about mine sooner or later).

Anyway, since you're back to addressing the way we dress, I wanted to encourage you and the rest of the ladies to educate yourselves about the companies that we purchase from. Whether it's clothing, toys, food, or other items, many of the big name manufacturers and retail stores are also some of the worst offenders when it comes to supporting trashy television and movies &/or offending us by supporting organizations that are trying to tear apart family values. I am on the e-mail list of the American Family Association (who does the researching for us), and I have learned about some of the worst offenders like Target and Kohl's stores, Nike, Pepsi-Cola Corporation (they also own Frito-Lay, Tropicana, and Quaker), L'Oreal, Microsoft, and Proctor & Gamble--to name a few (just try to eliminate P & G's products--they're in every cupboard and corner of our homes). I have not found alternative brands for every one of these products yet (it's actually a rather painful process as I've grown pretty attached to some of these favorite brands), but I have been able to considerably cut down on my support of these offensive corporations. If we all prayerfully consider how we can take part in this, maybe we can (united) send a powerful message to support family values or lose our business.

Well, I'll step off the soap box now, and let you get back to doing your hair :) I've got shorter hair, so I'm going to concentrate on the feminine clothes for now.

Thanks for listening, Joy. I'll pray for your husband's quick & safe return.

Thanks for posting hair sites! They are so helpful - I tried one today, and it's pretty easy! Just like what you wear, hairstyles can get kind of mundane. It's nice to spice things up a bit!

Here are some of our favorite hair sites:

http://babesinhairland.blogspot.com/
http://shedoeshair.blogspot.com/ (not blogging anymore, but has great archives)
http://hair4myprincess.blogspot.com/
http://curlsandcowlicks.blogspot.com/
http://shortyrocksitshort.blogspot.com/
http://cute2tryhairdos.blogspot.com/

And when your daughter gets used to having a fabulous "do" every day, and suggests running to the grocery store just so the clerk will notice her hair and pay her a complement... you make her memorize 1 Peter 3:3-4!

"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

:o)

(not that I have any experience with that)
