Wow. We are done with our week of dresses and skirts! Hannah and I had so much fun, I can't even begin to tell you what this week has meant to us. I think (well, I know) I have much more to say on this topic, but I am still thinking and pondering A LOT on the topic of femininity and how I want to present myself to the world. So, you may see a post in the next few days on this topic....I'm just not quite ready yet.
For now, here we are on day 6:

Hannah's dress- Land's End
My Dress- Mika Rose (I love this dress...it is so comfortable, doesn't wrinkle, and is very flattering!)
Here's pictures of the back of both of our hair:

And then, today....day 7:
Hannah- I have no idea where her clothes are from.Me- Skirt- Junees
Black T- Shade Clothing
Cardigan- Indonesia
Necklace- Target
Sorry, no shoes mom!
I hope you've had fun seeing our week in skirts and dresses. It has been both fun and humbling to post pictures of myself every day!
Now, go see Kristin, as she begins her Favorite Things giveaway!
Blessings,

I love that last outift. That hot pink cardigan looks great on you. Thanks for sharing your week in skirts and dresses. I've really enjoyed it.
Wow, both of your hairdo's are beautiful...and i'm looking up that first dress, right now,
k.
You both are so beautiful. It just humbles me each time you share on topics of feminity. Thank you for sharing this, and your heart.
This was a beautiful and inspiring 7 day glimpse of modest and feminine wear for women. I, too, was inspired by Jennie Chancey's article on dressing modestly through the week so long ago, which helped me to change my wardrobe over time. This is so needed for women today, I'll be posting about this on my blog along with linking to your posts to get the word out! :)
Thanks for taking the time to do this! Many blessings...
Your hubby is a very BLESSED man to wake up looking at you! :) Lovely, both you and your daughter.
I've really been sensing change in my heart in the area of modesty and femininity as well. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts when they are done "percolating"! :)
Bless you, dear sister! You are a "sweet aroma".
Hugs,
Shilo
P.S. Hope preparations are going well for your home assignment!
You guys look great! Love the dress in the top pic!
I have enjoyed seeing the pictures of you and your daughter in your cute outfits everyday. I'm looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts on modesty. :)
I loved all your outfits, but the last 2 were my favorites. Especially the black dress. Is that a store in the states or do you order it online? I want one. I don't have a "little black dress". Thanks for sharing with us this week.
I love the black and white dress. Such a classic! Very Audrey Hepburn-esque ;)
AWWW I hate that this week is over. I had so much fun!! Like you I also had a revelation after challenging myself to wear dresses/skirts. I just posted my last two days and I just wrote a post on how this week has inspired me on modesty and feminity. Glad you experienced the same thing...be blessed!
Love that black dress! and today, I love that pink jacket.
Very cute, both of you! :)
Looking forward to reading what you have to say on this topic, as well!
I love your black dress! So cute!
I have enjoyed all your posts about skirts and dresses. I have even gone and purchased some skirts for the first time in many years. One of the skirts I purchased came from a local thrift store. When I finally put it on four days after I bought it, I found a $10 bill in the pocket. God has truly blessed me for wearing skirts!! :)
Ellen,
The black dress is from www.mikarose.com. It is a modest clothing site, and, while I don't really like the way their models are posing and "pouting", I do like their product!
Pam,
What an amazing story!!
Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and camraderie. I appreciate all of you!
Blessings,
Joy
It's been a fun week. :) My girlie loves wearing dresses and skirts and will do so about 98% of the time... she always loves it when I wear my skirts. I'm sure it was a very special week for Hannah as well.
Blessings,
Carrie
I loved looking at the lovely photos of you and your daughters. My girls and I dress in a very similar manner and I have to say we do stand out from the crowd (even at church!) in the surf beach culture of our region of Australia. I have been reading through your archives and enjoying them! My husband and I spent two weeks in Jakarta on a short term missions trip before our children were born. Loved it... especially the people. We were inspired to tile our home right through and have a shoe free household after our time in Indonesia! Today I am a homeschooling mum of 6 and I have twin girls. I started a blog this year on family life and my next post is about my missions minded 11 year old daughter and her passion for Asia which you might find interesting. My 16 year old son is going on his first missions trip in July to build homes in a leper colony in Thailand. I do not read too many blogs these days but I am pleased I found yours. Hope you find time to visit me.
You're putting me to shame as I sit here in old cutoff knit shorts and a t-shirt from 1999 with dirt under my fingernails from gardening. ;) Seriously, thanks for sharing - looking forward to reading your reflections!
Hi Joy!
I have so enjoyed seeing all you and Hannah dressed up each day! And, I'm new to Kristin's blog, but am enjoying it as well!
I was at my friend Grace's this weekend and she had the Marie Madeline skirt pattern, so I made one for Emily and Rachel! I am so glad Hannah will have one too - they are so precious and fun!
Have a great day,
Monica
I have enjoyed your posts this week and have been challenged with the whole femininity issue. Thank you. It has given me some neat opportunities to talk with our 3 girls, too. I LOVE your daughter's hair in the first picture...could you share how you did it, please?
I'm so upset I missed this. I've been wearing dresses/skirts full time for over two years now, and LOVE IT!! There the coolest thing in summer. And the warmest in winter with all the layering you can do under a full skirt/dress, and I know cause I live in IA!!
Thank you for these posts. I believe so much ladies should return to a modest and feminine dress.
Blessings
Joy, this was so fun to see you and your daughter each day and see what your outfit was like. Very femine and lovely.
I like to wear skirts too. i don't have any dresses anymore,...because the skirts give more flexiblity because I can mix and match.
I agree that people treat you differently when you dress like a lady. And even my husband treats me differently, like he feels more masculine when I am dressed like a lady.
I think people can look feminine in pants if they are loose and not skin tight, and you wear longer tops to cover more. I always add jewelry and make up to look more like a lady, even though I am wearing slacks or jeans, or capris.
I never wear shorts unless they cover my knees.
Anyway, I enjoyed this. Thanks.

Lovely dresses!! You both are looking too cute in those dresses...
You both look lovely and the hairstyles are so elegant.
Lovely outfits, Joy and Hannah!
Hannah's hair style is very creative and lovely!
Have a cheerful and joyful day!
Elizabeth
I've enjoyed seeing you both in your outfits every day. I am what you would call 'dresses/skirts-only' but mine are more casual than yours. You've inspired me to do better, thank you!
The other thing I really like is how many interesting and different things you do with your hair. I have longish hair and have contemplated cutting it because it seems all I do is pull it back. You are very creative with yours so perhaps I just need to try a bit harder.
Thanks again for sharing with us.
Blessings,
Michele
Lovely Joy! You are a light in a very dark world! Your daughter's hair in incredible- where do you find the ideas? (I have 3 boys but one day soon, i hope to have a little girl of my own too!:o)
You look so pretty in those dresses. Thanks for sharing the week's photos. They were an inspiration.
Joy-
Could you please share where you found the tutorial for Hannah's hair style?
Thanks!
Elizabeth
