Skirts and Dresses Day 4

Today is the day Dave comes home!! Today is a flurry of house cleaning, balloon blowing, flower picking, and Mexican food making! We will go pick Dave up later this afternoon.
Mexican food begins in the morning, with the cooking of the beans.

My mom teased me about never wearing shoes...which is true. Here in Indonesia, it's cultural to not wear your shoes inside. Here I am donning my shoes just for you mom!

I'll wear the cardigan when we go out.
Outfit:
Shirt, necklace, cardi, and bag- Old Navy
Skirt- here in Indo
Shoes- Target
Apron- my sweet MIL made it for me!

Anna asked how to stay modest in a hot climate. For me, a lot of times it means being hot! As I live in a Muslim culture, it is important that when I go out, I am fully covered. So, that is why I have the cardigans. When I am at home, I try to wear cooler knit skirts and tops. I am hoping to stock up on summer wear while back in the States. I need some new cotton skirts and tops. If anyone has any they want to get rid of, let me know!

What size are you? I'm always at the thrift store looking for skirts for myself. I'd love to give you some of the ones I find, but you look smaller than me. (I'm usually a 6) I'll keep my eye out for you and could send you some fun skirts while you're in the states- it'd be a fun way to bless you!

Have really ENJOYED these posts!!!! How do you stay so skinny??? I used to be built just like you, but after the 4th kid I just can't seem to get it back (4 years later)! LOL!!

Joy,
You always look easy and beautiful, one thing that many girl envy from you. About the red shirt you have, that's already acceptable actually. It is under arm and very tight shirt that is unapropriate to see here. So the unacceptable one is actually toptank.

Hi Joy! I have been a quiet reader of your blog, but I have to comment on your modesty dress series. I can not tell you how inspiring it is to see that you can dress modestly, but still look so pretty and feminine! What an amazing example you are to other women, including myself, and also your own daughter! :)

It's a change that I have decided to start incorporating into my own life, so I bought a pretty new dress at Marshall's (no idea the last time I have bought or worn a dress!) And am planning to get some cute new cardigans at Old Navy soon! Thank you. :)

Also, I am so happy for you that your husband is coming home. Enjoy your time together!

Many blessings,
Erin

I would love to join this fun challenge as I am normally a dresses and skirts person but I am almost 31 weeks pregnant right now and have a sorely lacking summer maternity wardrobe and a self imposed small budget toward changing that. Right now (this minute) I am wearing a maternity tank and my husbands night shorts. It is hot where I am and I'll admit, I look positively awful. I look forward to donning my little dresses and skirts and even aprons again. You and your daughter look so pretty and feminine. I think it is great you did the challenge.

Here in the states our family doesn't wear shoes in the house either. Makes too much dirt come in the house and scratches the wood floors. LOL I think you are adorable barefoot and dressed up.
