Often we don't view our daily activities biblically. We wrongly believe that the more mundane the task, the less significant it is to God. As difficult as it may be to believe, the hands that tenderly bathe your baby at night are no less holy than the hands that serve you communion on Sunday. Every small act of love to your family- every diaper you change, every meal you prepare, every toilet you scrub, every errand you run, every fever you tend to, each tooth you pull, every moment of undefiled intimacy with your husband- each one is a holy act with it's done as unto the Lord. - Stacy McDonald, Passionate Housewives Desperate for God
"What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God. We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow. - Martin Luther

I really like the Stacy McDonald one...do everything as unto the Lord and not to men!
Thanks for sharing! :-)

I'm reading Passionate Housewives right now! I just got it through the inter-library loan and am enjoying it, thanks for sharing this quote!
Love,
Monica
That book sounds like a "must-read". I'll have to check for an e-book, or put it on a list for when we're back in the States this fall.
Thanks for sharing these quotes!
I was thinking about blogging about this idea, too. When after a post I read on At the Well. When I start thinking that my "job" as a mom is not important, I try to remind myself that in everything I am doing, I can and should be showing Christ to my son, which is the most important thing that I can do for him!
Thanks again, Joy. I am really enjoying your blog!
Hello Joy-
I enjoyed those reminder of how important everything I do, small or big is important. When I was a young mom, with lots of little ones at home I never understood how important my work was. Now most of them are half grown- and the understanding of what I was missing in is there- with much regrett and remorse. Praise the Lord for forgiveness!
Be diligent in your tasks!
Angie
How great that you posted this today!! Through my Bible Study over this last week, the Lord has really been laying this on my heart & wanting me to believe it. Passionate Houswives is definitely a book I'm going to have to read...
I Love the quotes!!!! Thanks for sharing them.
Praying for you Mama...
Blessings,
Carrie
Wonderful reminder. I think we're really closer to God in the daily things if we think about it. It is in the feeding of our children, the cleaning of our homes, rocking a child, hanging out laundry, and all the million other wifely/motherly tasks that we show our appreciation for what He has given us and that we pass His words in action along to our children. (There is nothing more fun to me than for us to sing hymns or contemporary religious music while we work. One can start and it is contagious. We all fall in. What a fun way to praise!)
Great quotes...I have the Luther one at the foot of my blog!
Needed this encouragement today... :)

Thanks for the reminder and encouragement!
As an older mother of 4 (all girls now aged 17 - 25) I still struggle with the worlds expectations. "Surely", says the world, "at this time of life I'm past the time of meeting my families needs with the same al-day-every-day intensity - relax, indulge yourself, pursue your own interests!" Two of my girls grew up "normally" until early teens when they both developed the symptoms of a rare and serious congenital problem and we had three years of neurological clinics, surgery and complications for both of them. I'm now left with two lovely young women who need their Mummy to help them live as normal lives as possible. The Lord leads us each into different seasons throughout our lives and we cannot always anticipate what is around the bend in life. We must keep before us:"Do everything as unto the Lord".
To you lovely younger mothers out there, I would encourage you all to stay close enough to the Lord to hear His heartbeat and keep bringing each of your precious family members before Him in prayer.
I found your site a couple weeks ago, and just have to say thank you. Your reminders are just what I need. Please continue in your work and may the Good Lord bless you continually and your family.
THanks for the encouragement!
Before my eyes scanned down and caught that the Stacy one was a quote I was reading it with your sweet voice. I could see your lovely face smilingly encouraging us.
Thanks, friend!
Thank you for the wonderful reminder. I read Passionate Housewives Desperate for God about a year ago. Wonderful book! I've loaned it to a few friends but have it back now and am thinking I should reread it.
I also love the quote from Martin Luther.
Thank you again.
In His love,
Tina
thank you for these beautiful - and TRUE - reminders!
Joy! I've had so much fun catching up on your posts! It looks like God used you mightily during modesty week - praise Him! And I'm so happy you have Skype...you're not spoiled...just blessed! Lots of love and hugs, Shilo
P.S. Looks like I need to check out the Passionate Housewives book! I've seen it mentioned several places lately by women who I admire!
I just thought I'd let you know that I put a link to this post on my 'Blogoversary Afterparty!' post on Living Water!
